Sheldon Ross, DPM
Dr. Ross was born in Miami Beach, and raised in sunny South Florida. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He then went on to graduate work in Clinical Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia in 1978 where he was selected for the Sterling Harford Honor Society.
His clinical training included work in: General Podiatry at the Foot Health Center of the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine; Podiatric Surgery at Rolling Hill Hospital, Elkin Park, Pennsylvania; Orthopedic Surgery at Cherry Hill Medical Center, Cherry Hill, New Jersey; Internal Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Pediatrics at Washington Memorial Hospital, Washington Township, New Jersey. Dr. Ross then received additional training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Community Hospital of South Broward, Hollywood, Florida. In addition Dr. Ross has received special training in Phlebology, Sclerotherapy, and Wound Care.
Dr. Ross has published numerous articles in both professional journals and sports oriented periodicals and has lectured through out the state of Florida on topics of orthopedics and sports medicine. He has served as Consultant in Biomechanics, Orthotics and Sports Medicine to the Philadelphia Eagles football team, Podac Biomechanics Laboratories and Suncoast Orthotics Laboratory. He has been a consultant to numerous high school and amateur athletic: football, soccer, roller skating and ice skating programs. In addition, Dr. Ross has served as Podiatric Consultant to the SPORT CLINIC treatment and rehabilitation center treating numerous amateur and professional sports figures. Dr. Ross served as a clinical professor in sports medicine at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and was part of the teaching faculty at Universal Medical Center prior to its closing. Since beginning private practice, Dr. Ross has been active within his profession by serving on numerous committees within the Florida Podiatric Medical Association and the Broward County Podiatric Medical association.
Dr. Ross has been conferred Diplomate status from the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and from the American Academy of Wound Management. He is Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery and in Wound Management. He has received Fellowship from the following: American College of Foot Surgeons, American College of Foot Orthopedists, The American Association of Hospital Podiatrists and The Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgeons.
As director of South Florida Foot Centers Inc., Dr. Ross oversees Sunrise Family Foot Care Center, Advanced Therapy Wound Care Center and Advanced Therapy Vein Center. He presently holds admitting privileges as an associate staff member at Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and is a clinical physician in the Wound Healing Institute there.
Dr. Ross is married and along with his wife Esta, an elementary school guidance counselor, are the proud parents of daughters Ellen and Andrea.
